ESG Report For 2022 | Social Accomplishments

03/04/2023

The social criteria is used to evaluate a company's impact on society - including employee and customer treatment, suppliers, communities surrounding the business, and so on.

From day one, CitySuites has continuously met the social criteria for ESG. Delivering various awareness and skill development courses across diverse business areas: staff handbook and policies, manual handling, environmental awareness, and display screen equipment as examples.

We continue to ensure that both employees and guests at our building are cared for in 2023, delivering various features to create both an engaging workforce and a safe atmosphere for guests.

Health & Wellbeing In CitySuites

Outside Citysuites II In Manchester City Centre

We understand that the hospitality sector is an incredibly rewarding, but challenging industry to work in - regardless of your title. To counter workplace stress and provide the right support for our employees, we take accountability for their well-being.

We have implemented various well-being measures to ensure employees are cared for effectively, in tandem with our wellness policy that outlines our obligations and commitment to protecting our employee's well-being.

Education on mental health issues through carefully-made online courses is integrated onto our employee's training, as well as an employee assistance programme which offers practical support to all staff, including counselling sessions across a range of life issues. Flexible working is also offered to our part-time workers to support work-life balance wherever we can.

Diversity, Equity, Inclusion (EDI)

We cultivate our work to ensure there are no seclusions among our workforce. Our EDI policy affirms our ongoing commitment to employees to initiate inclusive practices across the employment lifecycle.

Each employee at our establishment must take an EDI training course annually at a minimum, with new starters also required to take part in the course.

We strive to create an inclusive place to stay. Recognition and support are given to anyone with impairments, such as those relating to mobility, sight, hearing and learning - as well as other hidden disabilities. Accessibility is set at a high standard at our establishment, which can be found in various areas including our entrance, lift accesses, and gym and pool facilities.

Supporting Our Communities

Mission Christmas Citysuites (3)

People are the beating heart of CitySuites, with guests, partners, and valued staff being at the forefront of our establishment.

We commit to providing for our wider communities. In 2022, we delivered various charitable donations to official communities: such as McMillian, Salford City Council, British Red Cross Foundation and Applebee Wood.

Below is an estimate of what we have delivered:

McMillian: £186

Applebee Wood: £180

Salford City Council £450

Christmas Jumper Day: £87.30

British Red Cross: £1.3k

Mission Christmas: £230

Charity Escapes £14.2k

TOTAL: £16.6k

The percentage of employees at CitySuites participating in our volunteering scheme was 10% of the overall employment line, with a total number of 50 employee hours spent volunteering.

Conscious Collaborations

Collaborative partnerships are always at the back of our minds.

As a hospitality business, we rely on these partnerships to keep our business ticking over without a hitch - as a result, our supply chain has become a fundamental part of our business.

CitySuites' modern slavery statement, supported by our Anti-Slavery and Human Trafficking Policy, outlines our zero-tolerance on human rights violations in our own facilities, as well as the wider supply chain.

We are also partnered with sustainable companies, such as I Want Plants and The Linen Group. We source our plants and greenery from "I Want Plants", which is one of the UK's leading independent horticultural suppliers, while "The Linen Group" provides an environmentally-friendly laundry service for our aparthotel.
